This text contains readings in German literature through the Age of Enlightenment (750 A.D. - 1750 A.D.) Designed for courses in German literature at the third and fourth year college level. This second edition covers the first half of a German language literature survey course. The second half of the course will be covered by the forthcoming text Deutsche Literatur im Kontext by Waltraud Maierhofer and Astrid Klocke [978-1-58510-263-1, $38.95]. Organized by historic period, 1000 Jahre includes numerous carefully chosen readings and support materials which emphasize the cultural and historical background. The text also includes exercises and questions for each chapter.

Dr. Gudrun Clay is the author of several popular texts including "Geschaftsdeutch", "Lernexpress I and II", and the coauthor of "Dealing with Germans". She teaches at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
