95 Strategies for Remodeling Instruction : Ideas for Incorporating CCSS

Pedagogies Toolkit provides research-based strategies for lesson planning and remodeling to maximize student engagement and content mastery. Chapter 1 describes pedagogical research findings in a practical, brief, and accessible fashion, then applies those findings to a step-by-step method of lesson planning/remodeling in Chapter 2. Chapter 2 equips classroom teachers and instructional coaches with the methodology necessary to revise and enhance any lesson into a student-centered, engaging, and effective learning experience that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Chapters 3-5 then provide over 85 ready-to-use lesson remodeling strategies that can be immediately implemented in the classroom, grades 4-12. Key Selling Points Each of the pedagogies in the toolkit is aligned to Grade 6 to 12 Common Core State Standards Anchors for English and Language Arts; and History, Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects. The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, defining the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education in addition to the individual state standards in each subject area. The specific connections are summarized in Appendix B. Many of the pedagogies also apply to the Mathematics Common Core State Standards at all levels, particularly with respect to literacy within the mathematics curriculum.
