Aviation and the Law, 5th ed. provides students of aviation with a basic understanding of law, of the legal system, and of how the principles of law may be applied to the many aspects of air commerce and air transportation. However, much has changed since the fourth edition of this title in 2005. the fifth edition of Aviation and the Law underwent the most extensive editiorial revision since the original text was published more than 25 years ago. The content has been streamlined, while at the same time including the latest developments in aviation law and the air transport industry. Added are updates on federal aviation security provisions, as well as court case of note decided since the last edition. The title, Aviation and the Law, is anintentional reflection upon the nature of law, for the study of aviation law must of necessity consider the field of aviation within the broader context of law as a whole. Aviation law is but an integral part of all law. It is, therefore, necessary to start from the beginning, to develop for the reader a basic understanding of the law, of its philosophy, and of its structure and due process, before addressing "aviation and the law" specifically. To this end, the book is assembled in six major sections.
