The story centers on a family (Husband, wife and two children) who lose their way while traveling in their motorized van. They find a café in a rural small town, hoping to find their way back home. The café's owner, employees and customers reflect the uneventful, stifled, unchanging lives of the town inhabitants. The family discovers that a dangerous BEAR lives in a nearby forest and stalks the town streets late at night. When the family's young daughter, Katie, is nowhere to be found, the citizens at the café mobilize a search for her in the forest. In the process, the remains of long - lost friends and relatives are found, THE BEAR kills three searchers, THE BEAR itself is shot, wounded, and limps away and Katie is saved. The family, with renewed spirit, then heads back home.
