This volume seeks to explore the relationship between violence (its quantity, its varied forms, and its daunting consequences) in the post-9/11-War on Terror era and the contemporary status of critical political theorizing. The main questions asked by this volume are: Do the critiques or challenges offered by contemporary critical political theories and theorists (of both domestic and international politics) work in relation to post-9/11-War on Terror forms and degrees of violence? Are they able to make sense of the current condition of global terror?More precisely, this book investigates whether radical/alternative approaches to the issue of biopolitics/biopower (in international relations subfields like critical security studies, critical global governance; critical development studies; or critical and post-structural political theory, areas where these radical/alternative approaches have flourished) can: 1. capture the specificity of the present global condition of war, terror and violence; and 2. offer viable analytical and political challenges to dominant representations and discourses about political engagement, cultural practices, social order, and everyday life in the era of the war on terror.
