Beyond the Boundaries of Physical Education: Educating Young People for Citizenship and Social Responsibility

Explores the under-substantiated claim that Physical Education is important for personal, social and moral development, and suggests that the 'non-physical' is an important, but currently neglected, contributory factor. The book looks at the origins of thought that link PE and PSM, how they can be realized, and what the socio-political implications are for promoting social and moral behavior or development at a time of increasing social ills. It also reports on recent action research studies carried out by PE teachers and Sport Science staff.
