I have a list of people that I think deserve an award purely for being awesome and Young Adult author, John Green, is at the top of that list. John Green is a magnificent man filled with flawless thoughts and talents that I could not even begin to describe to you (although I will most definitely try).
If you have not read any of John Green’s books yet, I suggest you get to it! My absolute favorite is Paper Towns and I personally think it will knock you off your feet. All of his books are fantastic and beautifully written, so you should probably read them all. His most recent book is called The Fault in Our Stars and it will make you weep, laugh, and beg for more…that’s how good it is.
The perfection of John Green does not stop at his writing! Not at all! John and his brother Hank started a YouTube channel called vlogbrothers and they send videos back and forth to each other for all of their fans to see. They are absolutely hilarious and frequently full of helpful advice. The videos that John and Hank make allow them to connect to their fans and it has even created a community of people called Nerdfighters. Essentially, Nerdfighters are people who are proud to call themselves nerds and are unapologetic about who they are and what they like.
I think Nerdfighteria is one of the most beautiful things about the community John Green has created. Through communicating with this group of people through his Twitter, Tumblr, and Youtube channel, John has taught us to completely own who we are. He believes in being true to who you are, and the fact that he is so true to himself inspires others to be the same way. I sincerely hope that John Green can touch as many people’s lives as possible because he is truly a bright light in this dark world.
