If you have never read/heard of fanfiction before I feel very sorry for you because you are missing out on a fabulous thing brightens the lives of millions. Okay, I’m being dramatic, but it seriously is awesome and you should Google it right now (Warning: you will spend the rest of your day absorbed in reading so make sure you have nothing important to do).
Basically, fanfiction is a fictional extension of a pre-existing story or someone’s life. Anyone can write fanfiction and there are crazy amounts of websites that they can be posted on. I have read certain ‘fanfics’ that knock me off my feet and make me realize that there are many young writers out there that can write exponentially better than some authors that are published, and then there are some fanfics that are…well, they need help. No matter how well they are written, I still appreciate their existence. You know why? Because it gets people writing and reading and stretching their imaginations and that’s a super awesome thing, in my opinion. Just look at Fifty Shades of Grey as an example! That book started out as a Twilight fanfiction and it is now one of the most talked about/read books.
A couple examples of flawless (and currently popular) fan-fics to get you started, but remember, there are millions of fics out there and you just have to sort through the Internet a little bit to find the perfect one for you.
