Sixteen-year-old Joe Terry of Merced, California was sitting on his front porch when he noticed two small neighbor children playing on the nearby railroad tracks. Although hearing-impaired, Joe heard a faint train whistle. He reached the children and scooped them off the tracks only an instant before the train reached them, in a rescue so close that the train engineer stopped down the track to report that he'd hit several children!
