The Bloody Pit

The infantry is arriving and the cavalry is retreating.This is the beginning of the third volume in Bartlett's Gettysburg Chronicle. With General Doubleday and Wadsworth taking command of the army, the soldiers become restless and confused. A battle has yet to be laid out and the incoming force seems more organized.On the other side of the field, General Archer and Davis pour into the city with a strong force of eager Confederate men. General Archer has seen combat before, but General Davis, nephew of the President of the Confederacy, is new to his position.What will ensue is a bloodbath of confusion and devastation fueled by the hopes of the soldiers.The hope that this will be the end of the war.
