In this book the mathematical complications of calculating stability, damage, strain localization and size effect in order to predict response of structural components under a variety of environmental conditions are explored. The development of continuum-based models for failure enriched with micro-structural information and models capable of tracing the entire lifetime of constructions and structures are also considered.
