Today’s leaders must be able to apply management concepts with a comprehensive understanding of the communities they serve, the populations for which they assume risk, and the numerous entities that provide or pay for services across the continuum of care. This book presents a collection of real-world scenarios through which readers can develop their ability to manage “beyond the walls” of a single institution. For each case, the reader is asked to analyze a health challenge facing a community, draw from the data and background information provided, consider specific target audiences and stakeholders, apply management theories, and decide on an appropriate course of action.
