Child sexual abuse has been the subject of immense professional and public interest over the past ten years. Whilst currently perpetrators are in the public eye, they have not been the subject of detailed publications by academics and practitioners in this country. Much of our existing knowledge is based on the American and Canadian experience, and has been applied in a British setting without consideration for the importance of matching theory and practice, evaluating the outcome with an objective appraisal of our current strategy. This book is different from others on the market, in that it aims to provide students and practitioners with a knowledge base in relation to child sexual abusers which is focused on practice - assessment, treatment and evaluation - but rooted in psychological theory. Its strength lies in simplifying and outlining a coherent approach to this group of offenders which a single author can provide, particularly given that the author has developed and managed a sex offenderproject in South East London which is now one of the largest, longest running, and most thoroughly evaluated in the country.
