China's Agricultural Development: Challenges and Prospects

This book identifies the main challenges Chinese agriculture is confronting and considers how these challenges might be met. The performance of China's agricultural production is assessed and the factors that affect agricultural productivity examined via detailed econometric analyses and up to date nationally representative data.In addition the effects of risk and uncertainty on agricultural household production are explored and the main determinants of rural demand for insurance identified. The experiences of other Asian economies relevant to China's agricultural development are also considered.
