The author compares African theology with Western Christian theology......In my native town, the people and culture strongly believe in the Chukwu (which means "God"), chi ("personality emanating from God, who is the carrier of one's destiny"), and ancestors (the source of life). Spirits are generally called mmuo; those with Chukwu, chi, and ancestors are generally believed to inhabit the land, so there is an obvious distinction between the physical world and the spiritual world. Spirit-icm ("to be spiritual") is held with religious awe and reverence; therefore, Africans are very superstitious and apt to worship.....(Pg 11)
