Gavin Shatkin is Associate Professor at the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Northeastern University. He is the author of Collective Action and Urban Poverty Alleviation: Community Organizations and the Struggle for Shelter in Manila (2007). His research focuses on urban inequality, community-level organizing, and collective action on urban issues in the developing world, such as housing and infrastructure provision.
