Crime Prevention: Approaches, Practices, and Evaluations

This book examines several types of crime prevention approaches along with their respective end-goals. Strategies discussed include those preemptive measures designed to prevent conditions that foster deviance, those directed toward persons or conditions with a high potential for deviance, and those for persons who have already committed offenses. The effects of physical environments, the mass media, displacement and diffusion, electronic monitoring, and home confinement are also explored.
