Defence Reform in Croatia and Serbia--Montenegro

This book examines defense reform in Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro since 2000, focusing particularly on the institution and consolidation of democratic and civilian control of the armed forces, the reform of conflict-era forces structures, and the influence of the West including defense assistance and political conditionality. It goes on to taps into key dilemmas faced by both countries, including democratization and institutional reform and address the issue of western defense assistance and political conditionality in a systematic and comparative way.

Dr Tim Edmunds is a Lecturer in the Politics Department of Bristol University. He gained a BA (1st) in Peace Studies at the University of Bradford in 1994, and completed his doctorate at the University of Sheffield in 1998. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Politics, University of Nottingham between 1999-2000, and a Lecturer at King's College London and the Joint Services Command and Staff College between 2000-03.
