A Derivational Approach to Syntactic Relations

This book presents a Minimalist analysis of syntactic relations. The authors argue that certain fundamental relations such as c-command, dominance, and checking relations can be explained within a derivational approach to structure-building couched within a new and controversial level-free model of the syntactic component of the human language faculty.

Samuel David Epstein is currently an Associate Professor in the Linguistics Program at the University of Michigan Erich M. She is currently a Lecturer in the Department of English at Meiji Gakuin University Hisatsugu Kitahara has held research and teaching positions at MIT, Princeton University, and the University of British Columbia. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Cultural and Linguistic Studies at Keio University
