El legado de las diosas

En las cumbres de los Cárpatos Blancos, en la comunidad de Žítková, se encuentran agazapadas unas pocas casas. Todo queda muy lejos. Allí, dicen, desde tiempos inmemoriales un linaje de mujeres con unas facultades excepcionales ha logrado preservar un conocimiento y una intuición que han pasado de generación en generación durante siglos. Sanadoras, sabias y videntes, transmiten su arte de madre a hija, y se las llama diosas. Si se dice que ven el futuro, ¿por qué no han sabido protegerse del suyo? Dora Idesová, la última de esta estirpe, siempre se ha mostrado reacia a compartir las creencias de sus predecesoras. O eso parece hasta que un drama familiar la separa de sus seres queridos y despierta en ella la necesidad de conocer sus raíces, de comprender a las enigmáticas diosas. Su vida cambia abruptamente cuando, a finales de 1990, en los archivos del Ministerio del Interior, encuentra un expediente sobre su tía, Terézie Surmenová, supuesta enemiga del régimen que fue sometida a una estricta vigilancia hasta el final de sus días.

On the summits of the White Carpathians, in the community of Žítková, a few houses are crouched. Everything is far away. There, they say, from time immemorial a lineage of women with exceptional faculties has managed to preserve knowledge and intuition that have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. Healers, wise and seers, they transmit their art from mother to daughter, and they are called goddesses. If they say they see the future, why haven't they been able to protect themselves from theirs? Her life changes abruptly when, at the end of 1990, in the archives of the Ministry of the Interior, she finds a file on her aunt, Terézie Surmenová, an alleged enemy of the regime who was subjected to strict surveillance until the end of her years.

Katerina Tucková (1980), escritora, periodista, dramaturga y comisaria de exposiciones, se graduó en Historia del Arte y Filología Checa por la Facultad de Arte de la Universidad Masaryk de Brno, y se doctoró en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Karlová de Praga. Autora de varias publicaciones especializadas en el campo artístico, se impuso en el panorama literario checo con la novela Vyhnání Gerty Schnirch [La expulsión de Gerta Schnirch] en 2009, con la que ganó el Premio Magnesia Litera en 2010. El legado de las diosas es uno de los libros más vendidos en toda la historia de la República.

Katerina Tucková (1980), writer, journalist, playwright and exhibition curator, graduated in Art History and Czech Philology from the Faculty of Art at Masaryk University in Brno, and received a doctorate in Art History from Karlová University in Prague Author of several specialized publications in the artistic field, she established herself on the Czech literary scene with the novel Vyhnání Gerty Schnirch [The Expulsion of Gerta Schnirch] in 2009, with which she won the Magnesia Litera Prize in 2010. The Legacy of the Goddesses is one of the best-selling books in the entire history of the Republic.
