Recognizing the challenges faced by little explorers who navigate vision impairment, whether due to lazy eye (amblyopia), genetic traits, or rare diseases like Coats' disease, this extraordinary, bilingual book is a powerful tool of support and empowerment. In both English and Spanish, "El Pirata y Su Parche Mà gico" encourages children to embrace wearing an eye patch, fostering their confidence and resilience, and reminding them that they too can be brave pirates who set sail on a magical journey.

Paty Montesinos is a first-generation Mexican-American from Livingston, California. Paty draws strength and resilience from her parents' courageous journey as immigrants from Michoacà n, Mè xico. She is a storyteller, Product Manager, Data Scientist, and Latina in Tech, also serving as a mentor, Alumni advisor, wife, and mother. Currently residing in the Bay Area with her husband and son, Paty finds her greatest inspiration for writing children's books in her son and her commitment to diversity and inclusion. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, backpacking through National and State Parks with her STEM sisters, playing soccer, and dancing with her family.

A Mexican illustrator from Guadalajara, Jalisco, lives her passion by creating projects with vibrant colors and lively characters. In her free time, she enjoys discovering new places, spending time with her friends, and playing with her kittens.
