The Essential Rbrvs 2004

The Essential RBRVS is a complete relative value schedule based on Medicare's RBRVS. CMS develops the RBRVS for the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, however, is not a complete schedule. Medicare does not pay for some services and does not assign relative values for other services. Codes in the RBRVS not provided a RVU for Medicare are often referred to as "gap" codes. The Essential RBRVS provides all codes valued by CMS, as well as the codes not valued for Medicare. The valuation of "gap" codes provides a logical way to value services performed using one relative value scale.
