Eyes Behind the Lines

The author wrote this book surveying the US Army's historical experience with Long Range Recon Patrols (LRRP) and Long Range Surveillance (LRS) units from the 1960s Cold War and Vietnam War, through their use in Operations JUST CAUSE and DESERT STORM, to the present time. He examines each era in terms of doctrine, unit organization, training, materiel, leadership, and personnel. In doing so, he not only recounts the history of these units but makes a case for continuing the LRS capability in the Army's future force structure.
