In Fairness to Children: Working for Social Justice in the Primary School

How can one best work for justice and empowerment in the ever-changing, real-life, messy world of primary school classrooms? Written by a full-time teacher and an action-researcher, this book points out opportunities to work for fairness for all children and teachers. The authors use case studies - drawn from city and rural, large and small schools, with ethnically mixed and predominantly white pupil populations - to focus on achievement, safety, harassment, curriculum content, trips and topics, management and home-school links. They emphasise that quality and equality - in the areas of race, class and gender - go together in primary school work.
