Faith on Trial explains how the Supreme Court's reliance on procedural liberalism hampers its ability to adequately address the reality of religion as a pluralistic social institution.

David E. Guinn is a moral, political and legal philosopher and lawyer with a broad and diverse range of scholarship. Originally employed in the theater, he obtained his law degree from Fordham University Law School and practiced entertainment law for almost ten years. During that time he wrote numerous articles and several books on national and international creative rights law. He then returned to school and obtained a Masters from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal (where, unfortunately, he never had the pleasure of meeting Charles Taylor). He then worked for the Park Ridge Center for the Study of Health Faith and Ethics, publishing and lecturing extensively on bioethics, law and ethics and role of religion in public ethical discourse. He is presently the Executive Director of the International Human Rights Law Institute at the DePaul University College of Law and an adjunct professor of law.
