Fear in the Dark, Night Fighters at Tarawa and Truk

"Fear in the Dark" picks up Clay Hunt's adventures in the Pacific air war when, after leave in San Francisco, he joins a new torpedo squadron forming at San Diego in early 1943. The story moves on to the invasion of the atoll of Tarawa, where he flies in the first night fighter groups off an aircraft carrier and shoots down two Japanese Bettys trying to torpedo the American carrier fleet. Later he takes a specially trained night fighter squadron on board the Enterprise and leads it in a night attack at the great Japanese naval base at Truk.
