1883. This book was not offered as a scientific exposition of folklore by the author. It takes us no further than the village home. It looks out into the surroundings, but it only as distant a landscape as when we are fitting in the family circle listening to the tales of old times and old doings. Contents: settlement of the village; foundation of sacrifice; occupation of the homestead; house spirits; house gods as gods of agriculture; early domestic customs; and the village marriage.
