Fraser Bear A Cub's Life

A true-to-life nature story for young readers, from the multi-award-winning creators of Tale of a Great White Fish. This moving, beautifully illustrated story follows a black bear cub's life in the Pacific Northwest from his birth to his first salmon catch, uniting the cycles of bear and fish. A map and further information about bears and salmon are included. The book is based on a top-selling plush toy named Fraser Bear, created by the Pacific Salmon Foundation and Rocky Mountaineer Vacations. This toy, holding a salmon in his mouth, is sold on RMV's trains and through their souvenir catalogue, with sales benefitting the PSF. The book will become a must-have addition to all toy purchases.

Maggie de Vries is a writer, teacher, and editor and the award-winning author of several children’s books, including Tale of a Great White Fish, How Sleep Found Tabitha, and Chance and the Butterfly. Her adult nonfiction title Missing Sarah was shortlisted for a Governor General’s Award and won the first annual George Ryga Award for Social Awareness in BC Literature for 2004. She also teaches courses in writing for children and publishing at the University of British Columbia and UNBC. She lives in Vancouver with her husband and two cats in a house overlooking the Fraser River. Renné Benoit is an award-winning artist who has illustrated many books for children, including Tale of a Great White Fish, which won the Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize in 2007, and Lily and the Paper Man, which was nominated for the Blue Spruce Award in 2008. She grew up in Nepean, Ontario, and has always loved to draw and paint. She now lives in Southern Ontario with her husband and her two small children. Some of her favourite hobbies are gardening, reading, hiking, and camping.
