Gender and Labour in Contemporary India: Eroding Citizenship

Providing a comprehensive analysis of the electronics industry in India, this book highlights the gendered nature of labour regimes and domestic regimes and also the linkages between households, labour markets, factories and the state, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between gender and economic/industrial restructuring. Making an important contribution to the growing amount of available literature on gender and globalization, the author analyzes the struggles that women workers have been engaged in over their work, wages and service conditions and in their personal lives.
