Zachary Hayes, O.F.M., is professor of systematic theology at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He received his doctoral degree in theology from the University of Bonn in 1964. Since then he has taught and written extensively on matters related to the theological understanding of creation and the relation between theology and science and has published four books dealing directly with related themes. He currently collaborates with the staff of the Chicago Center for Religion and Science
