Gifted Children and Legal Issues : An Update

This book covers legal action concerning education of gifted and talented children from 1991 to the present. Issues include home-schooling problems, personal injury, civil rights, and advanced placement. Mediation and due-process are described and recommended as effective alternatives to litigation. All state and national gifted and talented organizations are included for reference, as are the position papers of NAGC.

Dr. Frances A. Karnes is Director of the Center for Gifted Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi where she is Professor of Special Education. Dr. Karnes is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association for Gifted Children, and a former president of The Association of the Gifted of the Council for Exceptional Children. Dr. Ronald G. Marquardt is Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at The University of Southern Mississippi.
