Gilgamesh the Hero

A retelling, based on seventh-century B.C. Assyrian clay tablets, of the wanderings and adventures of the god king, Gilgamesh, who ruled in ancient Mesopotamia (now Iraq) in about 2700 B.C., and of his faithful companion, Enkidu.

Geraldine McCaughrean has won every major prize for children's literature in Great Britain, including the Carnegie Medal, the Whitbread Award, and the Guardian Children's Fiction Award. She lives in Berkshire, England David Parkins has illustrated many books for children, including God's Story by Jan Marks, The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith, Webster J. Duck by Martin Waddell, and Prowlpuss by Gina Wilson. David Parkins has been shortlisted for the Kurt Maschler and Smarties awards and commended by the National Art Library Illustration Award.
