The Handbook of Election News Coverage Around the World provides an in-depth analysis of the journalistic coverage of national elections in democracies around the globe. The volume develops a framework for analyzing and comparing the news coverage of elections, providing information about how the news media cover national elections in various democracies, and how that news coverage is related to and affected by system-and culture-specific factors in each country. In addition to focusing on the history, culture, media and political structures, and the importance of, as well as the content of, news coverage of national elections, the volume also provides a comparative overview and analysis of similarities and differences among the countries discussed.

Jesper Strmbck is Professor in Media and Communication and Lubbe Nordstrm Professor and Chair in Journalism at Mid Sweden University. His research specialties include political news coverage, political campaigning, and political marketing. Lynda Lee Kaid is Professor of Telecommunication in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. Her research specialties include political advertising and news coverage of political events. She has also done work on political television in several European countries.
