The History of Vegas

With an edgy sensibility, the stories in The History of Vegas focus on teenagers who get into trouble. The stories are set in tough, small towns of northern California save for the title story, in which Las Vegas is a place, literal and metaphorical, where the young end up when they've bottomed out. Depicted with raw directness, these characters have to make up their own rules in the absence of adults, sometimes not caring what might happen.

Jodi Angel won a skateboard in a writing contest at age seven. She lives in Northern California and teaches creative writing at UC Davis.
