HorseDreams The Meaning of Horses in Women's Lives

The beautiful, intense, and often comical relationships between women and horses are explored in the more than 80 stories collected in this anthology. The history of the horse in women's lives is examined, as is the physical and emotional impact the animals have on their owners. Contributors ranging from age 11 to septagenarians tell tales of scruffy childhood ponies, sleek and brave thoroughbreds, and even the occasional donkey, seahorse, or carousel steed. Pieces vary in focus from the sense of freedom and power a horse can provide to how a young girl's dream of having a horse can affect her for years to come.

Jan Fook and Renate Klein also edited A Girl's Best Friend and Susan Hawthorne joined them for Cat Tales and this title. All work in academic world and as social activists.

Jan Fook is Professor of Social Work at La Trobe University and the author of seven previous books in addition to this series.

Susan Hawthorne is Publisher at Spinifex Press and Research Associate at Victoria University. She is the author of thirteen previous titles.

Renate Klein is Associate Professor in Women's Studies at Deakin University and the author of eleven previous books.
