Chris Raschka has written and illustrated several picture books, among them two others inspired by jazz masters, Charlie Parker Played Be Bop and Mysterious Thelonious (a New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book). His Yo!Yes? is a Caldecott Honor Book, and Waffle, his most recent, has been praised aptly by Publishers Weekly in a starred review for "Once again [capturing] the essence of a mood with the merest of texts and the briefest of brush strokes."

Mr. Raschka, a musician himself, lives with his wife and son in New York City.
