In a moment connecting the past, present and future, a special woman is born. Kanuwe is a neurosynth, a genetically enhanced hybrid gifted with empathic abilities. The last of three siblings to be created, her awakening is overseen by the spirit of Badarou, an ancient tribal leader of the extinct Omoro race. Through the guise of dream journeys, Kanuwe explores the legacy of her homeworld, Omori, as well as the task that she must fulfill once she reunites with her brother, Malaru, and her sister, Januka, to seed the legendary twin world of Omori, Omori-na. However, Kanuwe's reunion with Malaru is tempered by the discovery that Januka has been abducted by the Uhtis, notorious mercenaries. With the help of the Overlord, monarch of Zhalat, a world combining elements of commercialism and corruption, Kanuwe and Malaru devise a plan to rescue Januka. A unique medical procedure temporarily transforms them into Uhtian buyers seeking her purchase. Yet Kanuwe's transformation is more than corporeal. It is but a step in a spiritual awakening that not only heralds the maturing of her abilities, but the realization that she is evolving into something unique--a woman of strength and vision, a commingled soul of the past, present and future. Though negotiations with Tr'hai, a Uhtian caravan leader, successfully procure Januka's release, the siblings' reunion is marred when a hostile entity kills Malaru. Devastated, Kanuwe and Januka must overcome a crisis of faith and continue their quest for Omori-na. Drawn to an isolated desert planet, they meet an enigmatic sage known only as Doniros. He tells them of a phenomenal gateway and guides them to the final stage of their journey within the bowels of an ancient monolith. There, among a display of artifacts, they make a profound discovery--long ago, explorers from another world, from a place called Africa, colonized Omori. Kanuwe snatches a skull from the display. The action triggers a violent cataclysm. Barely escaping to their ship, she and Januka witness the simultaneous destruction of the planet and the birth of the gateway, a conduit to the future. The sisters embark on a journey within and beyond until they arrive at their destination, Omori-na, and initiate the cycle of rebirth that will be Kiyama--resurrection.
