Language and Power

Book 3 develops a way of looking at games / sports as another irreal language, a language that, when used as a metaphor or analogy for life, serves certain interests as opposed to others. Book 4 offers an analysis of language as multiple forms of oppression and shows how power is a consequence of structured inequalities built into language itself. Book 5 brings together a number of themes, including play, language as command, institutional power, and other matters of general philosophical, social theoretical concern.
