This story is about the trials and tribulations of Jessica Durning, starting with her husband's death in a one car crash. The death left a young widow with a four-year-old child and a huge debt fell on Jessica's shoulders. She supported herself and her son working as a diner waitress. She suffered agony for days and weeks observing her son fight for his life from an automobile accident. Jessica sustained through all her turmoil with the support of her neighbors and friends, Lori and Max Gordon, her boss, George Combs. Jessica started breast cancer radiation treatments while engaged to Rocco Manginni, the diner's chef.
