Lost Tramways of Scotland: Glasgow South

The first of two volumes covering the history of tramcar operation in Glasgow. The book narrates the story of the city’s impressive network from its origins as a horse tramway in the 1870s, through the early years of electrification and expansion during the first decades of the 20th century through to World War II. The book also focuses on locations in the southern half of the city, including South of the Clyde, Paisley, Mosspark and Burnside.

Brought up in Bradford, Peter Waller grew up witnessing the gradual decline of the city's trolleybus network. His first book, British and Irish Tramway Systems since 1945, was published in 1992 and since then he has written extensively on trans-port subjects. Moving to Shropshire in 2007, he is now a full-time author and editor and well as being a director and secretary of the Online Transport Archive and a committee member of the National Railway Heritage Awards.
