The General's Treasure is the third Mackinac Passage story. The first two, A Summer Adventure (June, 1995) and The Boathouse Mystery (June, 1996) were well received by readers ranging in age from 10 to adult. In The General's Treasure, as a reward for their heroics, fifteen-year-old Pete Jenkins and his three Cincinnati Row friends revisit the Anderson's at their magnificent cottage on Mackinac Island. Pete's idea of rest and relaxation is soon interrupted by a chance meeting with an elderly heiress. She presents Pete with a seemingly worthless poem which leads the inquisitive teens to various sites around the Island -- and ultimately into the perilous grasp of a deranged treasure hunter.
