MasterClass in Music Education Transforming Teaching and Learning

MasterClass in Music Education provides vivid, topical, reflective and above all #145;real' accounts from existing teacher research in the field, together with theoretical insights and a guided view of the relevant existing literature. Students embarking upon research will gain a many-faceted understanding of the possibilities open to them within action research - exploring their own practice - and also from other ways of examining the interesting and challenging issues confronting music education. At the same time, they will be able to develop insight into the intricacies of research methodology - how to go about doing research - by exploring the real life case study accounts written by their peers. These in turn are supported by an overarching framework provided by the editors, John Finney and Felicity Laurence, who draw upon their own experiences as supervisors of Masters students in the field of music education to help inform and frame the debates and reflections which arise.

John Finney is Senior Lecturer in Music Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, UK. Felicity Laurence is Lecturer in Music Education at Newcastle University, UK, where she is Director of the MA in Music and Education.
