Moral Development, Self, and Identity

Long dormant, the field of moral development is experiencing a comeback. This book will appeal to scholars, developmental theorists and graduate students interested in issues of moral development, moral education, moral behavior and cognitive development theory.

Daniel K. Lapsley is professor and chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at Ball State University. Dr. Lapsley received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Human Development) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has taught at the University of Notre Dame, Brandon University, and is currently chairman of the Department of Educational Psychology at Ball State University and director of its Office of Charter School Research. His research focuses on social cognition, adolescent personality, and moral psychology.
Darcia Narváez is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Learning and Cognition) from the University of Minnesota and studies moral information processing, moral development, and education. Dr. Narváez has formulated a new approach to character development education, integrating findings from social-moral development, positive psychology, expertise, and cognitive psychology.
