Olivia remains a steadying influence upon her favorite students, but her main occupation is caring for her family and helping her husband Gustav to become an important man while an isolation of the city is threatened by the departing railroad. It's a fight Gustav relishes, as he stays true to his convictions with help from Ardith, the journalist, who has her own struggle to keep her child. Truly, Moss Grove, affected by troubled times, takes on a different nature.
