She graduated from Harvard University. "I recently learned the name of one of my ancestors, a free person of color. I wish I knew the story of how he got his freedom. I found it easy to slip into Corey's world. Part of that is because I've read so much history. But it's also because I feel close to my slave ancestors. Even though I don't know most of their names, I love them and admire them for their bravery. I also like nature. That's why I had Corey like birds. It gave me a chance to go birdwatching and to listen to birdsongs." Sharon Dennis Wyeth lives with her family in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
