Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos in Semiconductors

Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos in Semiconductors is written for graduate students studying semiconductor physics and for researchers exploring the behaviour of semiconductors and devices. It uses chaos theory and nonlinear dynamic systems to explain specific physical phenomena, both intrinsic to the materials used, and caused by external factors.The author was the first to observe and report on chaos in semiconductors in 1982. This book teaches the reader how to use chaos theory to understand and model nonlinear carder dynamics in semiconductors. It sets out the historical background, and addresses existing (for example, impurities in bulk materials) and emerging challenges (such as controlling behaviour at the quantum level). It concludes with a description of typical behaviours observed in different types of semiconductor material.
