Only Immortal

When a vampire takes young Kelly, wife of Paul Straford, to make as his mate, he soon finds he's made a terrible mistake. Quickly learning the mere mortal Paul is more then he bargained for, the sweet young Kelly turning out to be a belligerent and veracious blood taker. In the beginning the vampire Ravon's mastery over Kelly is absolute. However she quickly grows away from him and knowing she's immortal looks down and treats the mortals she feeds on as her subjects, believing they should be honored by her selecting them to die and often killing them just for the sake of enjoying the terror they emit. Meanwhile Ravon has other problems with the mortal Paul who has been hunting him, the mortal at one time almost destroying him with a small rocket launcher. Even after Ravon's warns her to only kill for substance, Kelly refuses so he leaves her there in the college town and goes his own away. Only days later the town's people begin finding corpses of missing college students and the towns people become a mob and begin to hunt the creature, or creatures responsible. Just about then, Paul, who has been hunting the vampires all this time, tracks them to the town, while also, unknown to Ravon at the time, one of his ancient enemies, another vampire, is close at hand. Only by luck Kelly escapes being captured and destroyed by the mob, quickly fleeing the area to hunt for and find her master Ravon, who she asks his forgiveness. In a city west of Boston they join forces again and make their lairs in an abandoned Insane Asylum, most evenings flying off to Boston to take their victims. Again Paul and an associate track the vampires to the city and find them at the Asylum, where for a few nights they watch their movements before attempting to go in and try to destroy them. However the huge building's windows have all been tightly boarded up keeping the interior in complete darkness, leaving the outcome in doubt.
