Paulo Coelho A Warrior's Life

Paulo Coelho was born on a rainy night on August 24, 1947 the feast of St. Bartholomew. He was born dead. The doctors had seen that there were going to be problems with the delivery. Only a miracle would ensure that he was born alive. He was not moving in the womb and showed no intention of coming into the world, finally having to be delivered by forceps. At exactly 12:05 a.m., as Paulo was pulled into the world, with rotating movements, the doctor must have heard a slight crack like a pencil snapping. This was the babys collarbone, which could not resist the pressure of one of the blades of the forceps. However, this would not prove to be a problem, since the baby, a boy, was dead, apparently asphyxiated by the liquid that had been protecting him during his time in the womb. The sobbing parents asked for the presence of someone who might give the last rites to the dead child. There was no priest, but a nun in the hospital was found to administer the last sacrament when, as the parents were crying, there was a slight sound. The child was in fact alive.
