Poland's Transformation captures a snapshot of Polish history at a momentwhen it is emerging with difficulty from nearly 300 of the worst years anynation can endure. The contributors describe the events leading up to thecollapse of communist power, the problems and prospects of constitutionaldemocracy in Poland, issues of national memory, and the place of religionand literature in post-communist Poland. The volume represents a majoreffort to understand a Polish political, social, and cultural scene thatcontinues to undergo rapid change.
