Portrait of an Addict is a brutally honest account of my life. It is a story of my struggle to gain sobriety and sanity that is always elusive. Using crack to deal with Post Traumatic Stress from my childhood, triggered after learning that my husband had molested his daughter, I make one mistake after another. I continue to use crack and I remarry a Saudi Prince that takes everyone and everything I hold dear. With no reason to live or get out of bed I try to get sober again and fail. Broke and in debt, I rob a bank and go to prison. In prison, I am mortified by my behavior but I find the courage to face myself and begin to recover. In time, I begin to uncover and heal the deep resentments through epiphanies that would change my perception of others. I see the humanity in those that harmed me. I surrender all my resentments and fears and find self-esteem and peace. I learn to set boundries in my relationships and how to live without drama. My recovery is contingent on living my life on spiritual principles. These spiritual principles are based on my willingness to remain honest and open in every area of my life.
